This was for my second year authoring one module.
We were given a brief do redesign a brand, either Scrabble, Burberry, Nintendo or the Royal Family. I decided to go with Nintendo as I had a few ideas about what to do and I had recently bought a DS.
I decided to re-brand the Nintendo DS (which Nintendo did themselves just after) to appeal to a more mature or higher end market. The idea being that it would cost more to buy and therefore be taken more seriously. Rather like Apples iPod.
All the 3D in the project was created by myself using Cinema 4D and rendered with stochastic radiosity to give it the 'noisy' look.
I was really pleased with the way this once turned out especially the way that it all fits together pretty smoothly with the transitions between the scenes. Making the DS rotate when you move the mouse to the sides of the screens was pretty fun to do as was making the lid flip open using the mouse.
I was also really pleased with the 3D renders, I like doing 3D work but I haven't had much chance to do any during my 3rd year as I purposely left it out of my major project.
The reason the file size is so huge is huge is initially it was designed to be distributed by CD or run from consoles in stores.
